Meet the New Executive Director

Meet the New Executive Director

I am so excited about the opportunity to work for the Dominican Youth Movement. I look forward to collaborating with those who love the Dominican spirituality and mission across the United States and for the opportunity to serve the Dominican Family.

Sr. Katherine Frazier

My name is Sister Katherine Frazier, and I was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana. I grew up in the countryside where my family has operated a farm for over 125 years! I am so grateful for the opportunity I had to grow up in a place where my family has such deep roots. I attended Saint Mary’s College in Notre Dame, Indiana for my undergraduate degree where I designed my own major in Medieval Studies before attending the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England for an MPhil in Archaeology. After I completed my degree I realized that I was being called into ministry, first through a volunteer year with Cabrini Mission Corps and then through three years as a Campus Minister at Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania.

My call was deepened when I joined the Adrian Dominican Sisters as a candidate in 2015, and then made my first profession of vows in 2018. Since then, I have served as the Director of Mission Integration at Regina Dominican High School in Wilmette, Illinois and, most recently as a member of the Vocations Team for the Adrian Dominican Sisters and as an intern at Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services in New Haven, Connecticut. I have also completed a Master of Pastoral Studies at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, Illinois.

I have been involved with the Dominican Youth Movement conferences ever since I was a candidate, where I have volunteered behind the scenes so that the participants can have a life-giving experience. I have also presented on the Preaching Through the Arts Day at the High School Preaching Conference and as part of the Dominican Family Panel as a sister for both conferences. I have enjoyed sharing my experience of preaching with others and encouraging others to use their gifts and talents to share the Good News with those around them. I have seen what a transformative experience the conferences can be for young people through my time volunteering during the week and in my experience of working with the students who attended the retreat who were then able to share their experiences with the school communities after they returned.

I am so excited about the opportunity to work for the Dominican Youth Movement. I look forward to collaborating with those who love the Dominican spirituality and mission across the United States and for the opportunity to serve the Dominican Family. I am grateful for all the prayers I have already received as I look forward to this new ministry, and I know that your prayers will continue to sustain this ministry in service to young people who are called to join Dominic’s joyful vision of preaching.

Welcome, Sr. Katherine! May God bless you in your transition to the Executive Director role this summer.
