On Saturday, September 15th our former Dominican Volunteer Josianne Umuhoza, a young woman from Rwanda, was married. Her new husband, Nelson is a friend who she has known for years in Rwanda. Sisters Lenore Toscano, Mary Nolan and Gina Fleming her housemates, attended the wedding. Josianne had lived with the sisters at the House of Hospitality in Huntington Station during her volunteer year with the Opening Word and then an additional 2 years as she completed her Masters in Business Administration at Molloy College.
It was a wonderful ceremony, in full African style. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with the new couple and with her host family the Martin’s. We wish the newly married couple blessings galore as they begin their new life together!
